The U-13 girls football season got underway on Wednesday the 13th September. St. Brigid’s hosted Corpus Christi, Moyross in Claughan. The match was played in very difficult conditions with heavy rainfall throughout. St. Brigid’s girls, captained by Libby Costelloe, took an early lead through scores from Jody Griffin and Libby Costelloe. Corpus Christi fought back, but St.Brigid’s held their lead thanks to great defense from Madison O’Neill, Niamh Boland, Gabrielle Hanly, Ali Toomey and Sienna Flanagan.

In the middle of the field, Ciara McMahon dominated possession and supplied lots of ball to our hard working forwards Zara Walters, Cassandra Quiros, Aoife D’Arcy and Charlie Grimes Moran. Jody and Libby kept the scoreboard ticking over and St.Brigid’s won a tight match by 3-04 to 3-02.

Next up for the girls, is a local derby against St.Patrick’s, we look forward to that! Thanks as always to Claughan for making their facilities available to us.
