Our School’s History

St Brigid’s N.S. was founded in 1974. Our first classes were held in the hall of St. Brigid’s Church before we moved into two pre-fabricated buildings on a green-field site beside the old Blood Mill Road. Since then, as the new parish community grew so did the school…In 1980, we got our first permanent building. In 2002, the new infant department was built, leaving only two pre-fabs. However, due to further growth in pupil numbers we had to build a double pre-fab in September 2006. The building of an additional two classrooms and four learning support rooms was completed in 2011.This extension was opened in 2012.

The school has grown in size and now have over 460 pupils, 11 SET’s, 1 EAL teacher, 19 mainstream class teachers and a special class teacher. We have 8 SNA’s, a full time secretary and a caretaker. We are blessed to be located in a wonderful green site, rich in biodiversity and steeped in local heritage and folklore.
