Last year, St Brigid’s NS, in association with UL Huskies and Basketball Ireland, were nominated to take part in the Jr NBA Programme. The school received basketball jerseys and shorts and played games and tournaments against other schools in the locailty. The children even got to play at half time of a senior mens game in UL. The children enjoyed basketball so much that many joined clubs such as Limerick Sport Huskies, Limerick Lakers, Limerick Lions and St Colm’s. We cannot wait to get back to training with Ms Crosse & Ms Nihill soon.

Debating Club:

During debating classes, pupils are guided in preparing short speeches and then presenting them to the group. The emphasis is on organising their thoughts; making a compelling argument, backed with detail and then giving a good delivery of their speech to their peers. Work takes the form of pupils making individual speeches as well as pupils having the opportunity to debate against each other.
